Mikey is a traveling looping musician, using voice, guitar and more electronic instruments to give a new flavour to a large variety of artists' creations. It may sound like Reggae, Dub or Jungle, it may sound like Funk, Disco or House but it is certain to have groove and soul.
One of Mikey's favourite "musical dishes" is to use the voices of people passing by and cook something new with it - sampling the crowd and using their voices to create a unique track that is exclusive for the moment.
In the workshop for Being Gathering, they will use voices and the bodies of all those present so that, together, create an improvised mosaic of collective art.
“We invite anyone and everyone in the crowd to offer sounds to the mic that tell us about their experiences, feelings, current mood, memories, and while these become music and soundscape, we use these inputs to move and swim in all the waves that are brought to the mic. By using the voice and body in a quest that is created together, we can see the barriers of self-doubt and judgement move out of the way, creating the space for true freedom.”
