Kana Ote is a teacher for body movements including Sensory Movement, Gaga (invented by Israeli choreographer, Ohad Naharin, Batsheva Dance Company), and works as a contemporary dancer. Ote is originally from Hamamatsu Japan and began her practice in Ballet when she was three years old.
She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Dance de Lyon. After receiving her professional degree, She joined the company of Bern Ballet in Switzerland in 2003. The following year she joined Carte Blanche company in Norway.
Throughout her professional career as a dancer she has collaborated with internationally acclaimed choreographers.
Since 2005, Ote started to become a freelance dancer and joined different dance project in Europe and Asia.
In 2010, she received a artistic research grant from Pola Art Foundation (Japan) to learn Gaga with Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, Israel, and soon after she joined the Gaga Teacher Training Program. She was certified as a Gaga teacher in 2012 and also a practitioner of the Ilan Lev method.
After 20years of professional career as a dancer, in recent years she has become interested in the relationship between the mind and the body, and continues to study it from various disciplines. In this context, she has established a class called “Sensory Movement” where she shares her knowledge, experiences, and research that she has acquired.
Since 2021, she has been based in Portugal, where she is a teacher for body movement at various workshops, events and individual private lessons. She offers people how to be well-being through the movement.
